3D Stereo Vision Camera

创建于02.14
Working Principle
The stereo vision camera mimics the human binocular visual principle, using two cameras to capture same scene from different angles simultaneously. Through triangulation, it calculates the distance between the object and the camera using the distance between the two cameras (baseline) and the of corresponding points in the images, thus obtaining the three-dimensional information of the object. This process is similar to how the human brain processes the images seen by both, perceiving the distance and depth of objects by comparing the position differences of objects seen by both eyes.
Product Features
Advantages: No need to actively emit light, strong adaptability to the environment, especially suitable for outdoor scenes with sufficient light. Since its principle is based on natural vision, it can also work well in complex environments.
Disadvantages: It relies heavily on the texture and features of the object surface. When the texture of the object surface is not obvious or the color is and the contrast is low, it is difficult to accurately match the corresponding points, thus affecting the acquisition of depth information. In addition, the calculation process is relatively complex which requires certain hardware computing capabilities.
Application Scenarios
It is often used in UAV obstacle avoidance. The UAV uses the stereo vision camera to sense the surrounding environment in time, identify obstacles and calculate their distances, thus realizing autonomous obstacle avoidance flight; in the field of 3D modeling, it can shoot objects from multiple angles, rich three-dimensional data, and create high-precision 3D models.
